
Dr Nandini Kumar, Former Deputy Director General Senior Grade, Indian Council of Medical Research
Dr. Nandini K Kumar retired as Deputy Director General Senior Grade at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and had played a major role in traditional medicine research and bioethics activities including bioethics education. She was closely associated in the formulation of various guidelines including ICMR’s National Ethical Guidelines – 2000, and its revisions in 2006 and 2017, and Draft guidelines for Bio-banking, HIV/AIDS, Stem Cell Research and Therapy, Mental Health Research, Data Set Protection, Disaster Related Research and ASU (Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani) Guidelines. She is Fogarty Fellow graduate in bioethics, from the University of Toronto, and recipient of various international grants. She was member of President Obama’s Commission for the Study of ethical issues (international panel) and member of several other committees - national and international. She is life-member of Forum for Ethics Review Committees in Asia-Pacific region and Vice President of its Indian Chapter (FERCI). She is national and international surveyor for ethics committees and received the ‘Outstanding International Ethics Committee Surveyor’ by FERCAP in 2019. Presently she is consultant for bioethics and traditional medicine research and is a visiting faculty for bioethics education courses.
