THEME: Health for All in an Unequal World: Obligations of Global Bioethics

The Scientific Committee of the 14th World Congress of Bioethics is seeking proposals for symposia and workshops to be organised at the main Congress. All topics related to the theme of the Congress along with those which fall within the broader discipline of bioethics are welcome.

Each symposium or workshop can be organised as a 90-minute session. A 90-minute session could consist of up to four presentations, though three is preferred to allow ample time for discussion.

The Scientific Committee will evaluate proposals based on the following criteria: (1) Relevance to the Congress theme or the broader field of bioethics; (2) Scientific, technical and philosophical excellence; (3) well-defined and focused objectives; and (4) Potential impact and added-value for workshop/symposium participants

Proposals should be two to five pages and should contain the following information: (1) A title for the symposium or workshop; (2) An abstract (upto 300 words maximum); (3) Identification of the organiser/chair including name, institutional affiliation, e-mail address, phone number and postal address. Please indicate a primary contact if there is more than one organiser/chair; (4) A list of presentation titles with an abstract of up to 100 words for each presentation, the proposed speakers (please include their institutional titles and affiliations, if applicable) and discussants (if any); (5) Format of the symposium.

Please send submissions to: [email protected]

KINDLY NOTE: We have received a tremendous response regarding submissions. However, on request from many interested participants, the committee has decided to extend the timeline to Thursday, May 10, 2018; 23:59 hrs Indian Standard Time. Please consider this as the final date and no extensions will be considered under any circumstance thereafter.

Extended timeline of submission: till May 10, 2018 (Thursday)
Notification of the decision by the Congress organisers: Mid-June, 2018

There is no fee for the organizers of embedded (in-congress) workshop/symposia.

NOTE: Acceptance of a proposal does not indicate funding support from the Congress organisers to workshop or symposium organisers, chairs or speakers of any kind. All presenters and faculty/panellists on symposia are required to individually register for the Congress. For details regarding registration fees please visit the Congress Website
