Dr Sunu C Thomas is currently working as an Assistant professor, Department of Public Health in School of Medicine at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi. She has a masters and PhD in Public Health from Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS), Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum, Kerala.

Her research focuses on sexual and reproductive health and its intersection with gender. She received a fellowship from the Center for Global Women’s Health & Gender Equity at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, to examine intimate partner violence in the context of childlessness. Dr Thomas currently teaches gender issues in health, medical anthropological perspectives on health, and qualitative research methodology at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi.

In addition, she serves as Co-PI on an ICMR-funded project examining the effectiveness of a community-based, peer-led P-MED intervention for mothers with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in South India. She is also involved in a study on decentralized governance and healthy ageing, documenting innovations by local self-governments (LSGs) in Kerala.
