Dr Roli Mathur is a bioethicist heading the ICMR Bioethics Unit with an experience of >30 years in Medical Research, Ethics Policy and Guidance. Her work over the years has revolved around building capacity, developing National Policies/Guidelines, networking, ICMR-Central Ethics Committee, and National Ethics Committee Registry in India. She has authored >97 publications including >18 National Guidelines, policies and Tools and contributed to >12 International guidelines.

She chairs the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres in Bioethics; Co-Chair SAGER-Ethics Group on Sex and Gender Equity in Research Ethics; Member of several WHO expert groups, in the areas Global Clinical Trials, Governance of AI, Clinical Ethics, Controlled Human Infection Studies, etc. She has contributed to MRCT Harvard e-Learning Courses, CIOMS International Guidelines on Research in Low resource settings and Good Governance Practices. She has recently joined the International Bioethics Committee, UNESCO.

A gold medalist during graduation/post-graduation, Young Scientist awardee in molecular genetics at AllMS, New Delhi, recipient WHO fellowship in Bioethics and Ethics Committee Administration in USA, SIDCER International surveyor. Following her work during the pandemic, she was acknowledged to be among top ICMR Women Scientists and recognized to be exceptionally meritorious during last ICMR assessment.
