‘Disrespect: A reflection’

As part of this conversation, Sreeparna and Supriya will critically reflect on their works related to disrespect and related concepts. They will highlight the key learnings, add key insights and engage with methodological challenges and opportunities while researching these topics. As the discussion will be closely tied to the reading materials, we encourage participants to read the reading materials.

Discussants

Sreeparna Chattopadhyay is an Associate Professor of Sociology at FLAME University, Pune. She is also the co-editor of Feminist Anthropology. Her research focuses on public health, fertility intentions, and gender-based violence. Her first book the Gravity of Hope will be published shortly.

Supriya Subramani is a Visiting Fellow at Brocher Foundation, Switzerland. Her research interests lie at the intersection of emotions, healthcare ethics and behaviour. She focuses on microinequities, moral habitus, the social construction of incompetency, and experiential aspect of respect for persons. Currently working on the book ‘The Passive Patient: Culture of Disrespect in Indian Medical Law and Clinical Practice”.
