The fist National Bioethics Conference of the IJME, collaboratively organised by 20 organisations and institutions from India, will take place from November 25 to 27, 2005, in Mumbai. The conference aims to establish a regular platform for coming together, sharing experiences and fostering cooperation among individuals, organisations and institutions concerned with bioethics in India.
Ethical challenges in health care: global context, Indian reality
Thirteen eminent experts in bioethics will deliver keynote addresses on the main theme and focus sub-themes in five plenary sessions. Researchers, medical practitioners and activists from different parts of the country and abroad will present 64 papers in four parallel academic sessions. Ten parallel workshops have been planned during the conference. In the academic sessions as well as in the workshops, adequate time will be provided for interaction between participants and presenters. In addition, films on bioethics will be shown on the late afternoon of the first two days of the conference. Conference timings: November 25-26: 9 am to 9 pm, November. 27: 9.00 am. to 4 pm.
Conference registration: Conference registration fees are inclusive of conference material, lunch and tea/coffee. The fees are as follows:

Full-cost registration: This covers the cost of travel within India, accommodation from November 24 to 27, registration, all meals and conference material. The full-cost registration fee is Rs 90,000 or US $ 2,000.
Payment: Payment should be by cheque/demand draft in favour of INDIAN JOURNAL OF MEDICAL ETHICS payable at Mumbai. If the cheque is drawn from an out-station account, please add Rs 30 or US $ 15.
