Abstract

The article by Amita Pitre in the July-September 2006 issue of IJME is topical. Two recent events, the conviction of the accused in the Priyadarshini Mattoo case, and the passing by Parliament of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, have also focused on the issue of violence against women in India.
