Abstract:
Since 1993, directly observed therapy short course (DOTS) has been adapted and tested in India on more than 200 lakh population in various parts of the country, with excellent results. This comprehensive strategy has been incorporated into India's Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTP) and will be implemented in a phased manner in a population of nearly 300 million over the next three years.
