4. | Description | Abstract | Most Indian hospitals have instituted such a committee principally for the purpose of checking whether proposals submitted for research meet established guidelines. Once this has been established, the researcher is permitted to proceed with his work and the committee turns to subsequent proposals. This approach make a very limited usage of the personnel recruited on such a committee. Much more can be done to improve not only the quality of research undertaken by the institution but also the care of patients in the institution. |
