Colonialism of clinical trials: discerning the positive spin offs

Abstract:
It has become increasingly difficult and expensive to test drugs in western countries, with their strict regulations, elabo-rate safety requirements, and small populations, all of which make the recruitment of research subjects difficult. Consequently, many organisations are now outsourcing some of their trials to developing countries such as China, Indonesia, Thailand, and India.
