Dr Jacob Puliyel is currently Consultant Paediatrician and Head, Department of Paediatrics, St Stephens Hospital, Delhi. He has an MD (Jabalpur, India) and an MRCP (UK) in Paediatrics, and an M Phil in Hospital and Health Systems Management from BITS, Pilani, India.

Prior to his current appointment, he has been Consultant Paediatrician at West Middlesex University Hospital, London; Consultant Paediatrician (Locum) at Dewsbury Health Care Trust, UK; and Registrar in Paediatrics, St. Mary’s Hospital, Manchester UK.

Dr Puliyel has been a Member, Planning Commission Working Group on Drug and Food Regulation; Member of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI); Chairperson of the Emmanuel Health Association Research and Ethics Committee; and is on the National Editorial Advisory Board of Indian Journal of Pediatrics and on the Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics.

His areas of special interest are: Immunisation policy, Health economics and policy, Type 1 diabetes and Research ethics. Dr Puliyel has authored over 90 publications in internationally indexed journals including BMJ, the Lancet, American Journal of Perinatology, Pharmacoeconomics, Paediatrics, and Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics Outcomes Research and is a reviewer for over 15 national and international journals.
