Dr. Aamir Jafarey has been associated with the Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture, SIUT since its inception in October 2004. He trained in bioethics as a Fogarty Fellow in the Department of Population and International Health, Harvard School of Public Health, and obtained a Masters in bioethics from the Sindh Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Jafarey has been involved in bioethics related activities in Pakistan since 1997 and has been the recipient of several grants for bioethics related projects. He has conducted several research projects and has published in national and international journals. He serves as a reviewer for several bioethics journals and is member of the international advisory board of the Indian journal of Medical Ethics. He has been invited to present papers at symposia and conferences and has conducted numerous workshops at various institutions nationally and across the region. Dr. Jafarey has served in different Ethical Review Committees and is currently serving as the Coordinator of the Ethics Review Committee of SIUT. At CBEC, Dr. Jafarey is involved in managing, organizing and teaching during the Postgraduate Diploma in Bioethics, and Master of Bioethics courses, in addition to organizing various other bioethics related events offered through the Centre.
